February Monthly Make My Stash – Neon Tabor Sweater

Last week, I went into a little more detail about my #MonthlyMakeMyStash project and how I chose my goal fabrics for 2020. This here is the beautiful neon sweater knit fabric that I chose for February! I purchased this lovely sweater knit from Stylish Fabric in August 2018, and much like my January fabric, I knew exactly what I wanted it to be but it continued to get pushed back to the non-priority pile. It also became a little bit more of a high-stakes fabric when I sewed a maternity-friendly Waterfall Raglan in autumn 2018 and it began to immediately unravel – I found out that I didn’t actually know how to sew with sweater knits, and it made a difference! With that realization, I became pretty nervous about cutting into this wild and beautiful neon sweater knit. Thanks to my Monthly Make My Stash challenge, I finally sewed it up and I am thrilled that I did!!

January Monthly Make My Stash – Grey Dot Toaster Sweater

When I started to think about my 2020 sewing plans, I wanted to do something that made sense for me, my sewing desires, and my habit of adding things to or changing my sewing plans entirely on a regular basis. I recognized that I had less interest in sewing certain patterns than I did in working through my fabric stash, and it hit me. I went to my fabric shelf, and began setting aside different cuts of fabric – some that were just barely out of season enough to have fallen off my priority list, some that were too pretty to pass up but I’d never had any idea what I wanted to sew them into, some that I’d purchased with a clear plan for but never sewn up, and some that had simply become so precious as they’d sat on the shelf that I’d become afraid to finally cut into them! I had planned to turn this fabric into a Toaster Sweater back when I’d bought it in 2018, but it kept getting pushed aside, so it became my January Fabric! Come see how it turned out, and learn a little bit more about #MonthlyMakeMyStash on today’s blog post!

I’ve decided that this year, as a way to step back and recognize what I’ve made and make sure I’m on track with some of my sewing goals this year, I am going to do a little recap blog post every couple of months! I’m really looking forward to these! If you follow along with my stories on Instagram, you may be familiar with some of my plans and goals for 2019 sewing. I started putting these goals into action as soon as the new year started, and here’s a little rundown of how my first two month segment turned out!

Navy Toaster Sweater

I made this Toaster Sweater back in the autumn of 2017. I went and took a couple of cute blog photos in it, and have been wearing it fairly regularly ever since. Recently, I realized that despite all of that, I’d never actually written a blog post to go with this wardrobe staple! So here I am, finally correcting that.
