So I’ve been a little behind on showing you what I’ve been making, but I HAVE been making! And honestly, I’ve really been in my element with my me-made items lately – I am very much a summertime girl, and if you’ve been following me for any length of time you’re probably aware that flirty, feminine silhouettes and bright colors and bold florals are some of my favorite things. This dress (and many of the things I’ve made recently) has ALL of that!!

Last week, I got tagged in an Instagram Story chain to show off my favorite make right now… And guys, this is the one. I made this dress in collaboration with Stylish Fabric, and I am absolutely crazy about it. The Chelsea Party Dress has been on my list for well over a year, and now that I’ve finally made one, it is LOVE.
Another Recap – and another super late post! I’m excited to look back over my September / October makes today, halfway through December. I think next year, I’ll be switching to quarterly instead of bi-monthly recaps, because I just can’t seem to keep up!! Over the two months I’m recapping today, I made 12 new garments – my three favorites were the matching outfits I made for our family for our tiny girl’s first birthday! I did more “selfless” sewing over this period than usual, and also did a little scrap busting by sewing up a headband out of some leftover leggings fabric. I didn’t include any photos here, but that has probably been my most worn item from this period!
Can you believe that I MADE this gorgeous sequined dress? The full details of this make are over on the Minerva Blog today, but I wanted to take a quick moment here on my own blog to talk about sewing with sequins! This was something that seemed very daunting to me, and ended up being no. big. thing. So I thought I would walk you through my process. (PS – I do NOT claim to be any sequin sewing expert, and it is entirely plausible that I had beginner’s luck with this one! But I’m sharing my experience nonetheless. And also hoping it wasn’t beginner’s luck, because my second sequin fabric arrived in the mail yesterday!!).
